About this sector Through its work with the
Department of Health Arm's Length Bodies, Amtec understands the challenges faced
by Executive Agencies, Non Departmental Public Bodies and similar organisations,
in bridging the gap between departmental policy imperatives and the operational
challenges of delivery. Many ALBs have demonstrated innovation, whilst managing significant
programmes of change, and there is much the wider public sector can learn from
them. Moving forward we believe that the sector faces a number of challenges: - Recent Cabinet guidance around improved Information Governance and
Information Security.
- Efficiency - examining alternative ways of working to achieve
greater efficiencies and drive improvement.
- Better procurement - through the supply chain and in the delivery
of services.
- Sustainable development - Action Planning to ensure sustainability
is at the heart of an ALBs business decisions.

metrics are at the heart of continuous improvement.

demonstrating the benefits being derived from new
arrangements.
